"The Taiwan Expo is our outpost for expanding the market." Inventec, which has participated in the Taiwan Expo for five consecutive years, is a familiar face at the Taiwan Expo. The night before the opening, a group of more than ten people from Inventec came to Dongguan from Taiwan, led by Lin Hongzhou, general manager of Inventec's Enterprise Computer Business Group and the Sixth Computer Business Department.

According to IDC data in 2023, about one in every five servers in the world comes from Inventec. As the world's largest server motherboard manufacturer, Inventec has focused on server research and development, design and production for more than 20 years. And Dongguan, with its comprehensive manufacturing ecosystem, is becoming Inventec's favorite "experimental field" in the mainland market.

AI servers, edge calculators, metaverse photo frames... At the 15th Taiwan Expo, Inventec showcased its various edge-to-cloud solutions. "Good wine needs to be promoted frequently." Inventec, which compares itself to a "waiter", is looking for mainland "promoters" who recognize its strength at the Taiwan Expo.

24 memory sticks are neatly arranged, 4 socket expansion boards are "waiting", and 4 small fans are gently rotating... In front of a general-purpose server, Lin Hongzhou explained the composition and principle of its components, "We can provide various flexible designs and modular designs based on the different needs of customers, providing customers with a more comfortable and convenient assembly and maintenance experience."

Lin Hongzhou explains general-purpose servers

The iteration of general-purpose servers is often accompanied by a surge in the number of CPU chips and the dual challenges of power consumption and heat dissipation. Inventec's servers rely on a sophisticated fan module system to ensure efficient operation of the system.

In addition to general-purpose servers, there are also three higher-end systems here - artificial intelligence servers. They use Intel's fourth-generation and fifth-generation Xeon processors with NVIDIA HGX architecture GPUs, such as the 8U server P8000IG6, which is an industry-leading AI server product with more mature big data language training skills and more powerful computing power.

Lin Hongzhou introduced that these artificial intelligence servers are often used for translation reasoning, and have launched customized server cooperation with Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, etc., which is an important backing for Baidu Wenxin Yiyan product landing.

According to the "Dongguan Digital Economy Development Report (2023)", Dongguan currently has more than 500 artificial intelligence companies, and the operating income of the artificial intelligence industry and related fields has reached more than 120 billion yuan. The city's artificial intelligence industry is gathering and developing rapidly, driving more related companies to invest in Dongguan.

"With the platform of Taiwan Expo, we hope to continue to promote the Inventec brand and win more cooperative customers in Dongguan." Lin Hongzhou said.

Compared to servers that are often "hidden" in the customer's system room, edge computers are mostly stationed in the front line of smart factories. Compared with those servers that need to be linked through long distances and complex levels, edge computers have shown greater flexibility with their close-range advantages.

Edge Calculator

In the Inventec exhibition area, a simulation show about the future revolution of the textile industry is being staged. A mini version of the top is laid flat on the booth, and a high-end lens is searching for defects on the fabric. "When the defect is captured, the flashing light lights up instantly, automatically adjusts the position of the light and the robot arm, and sends precise instructions to the worker terminal to guide the cutting of inferior fabrics. Then, the light is reset, and the entire inspection process is seamlessly connected..." Chen Jiancheng, senior manager of the 5G private network solution department of Inventec Co., Ltd., introduced.

It is understood that this application scenario responds to the shortage of manpower in traditional industries such as Taiwan's textiles, and can provide strong support for maintaining market production capacity. This technology can also be applied to multiple industries such as construction and factories, bringing changes to safe construction, labor inspection, quality management and other fields.

The booth is full of hidden talents. Chen Jiancheng joined hands with Deepais, a pioneer in AI chip technology, to participate in the exhibition. "Deepais provides chips, and we turn them into cards and put them in edge calculators." Chen Jiancheng said that this technology has been tested and verified in Taiwan and has been recognized by the market. He is looking for partners in the mainland, and Dongguan is favored by Inventec because of its rich manufacturing fertile soil.

Chen Jiancheng described the relationship between Deepais and Inventec as "chef" and "waiter". He came to the Taiwan Expo in the hope of finding more system integrators "callers". "We hope to have partners in the mainland, and the first thing is to get more recognition from Taiwanese companies in the mainland, and then promote it."

What is exciting is that on the first day of the exhibition, a Taiwanese company from Dongguan has thrown a cooperation ball to them. "He is eager for us to provide product materials. I think there is an opportunity to cooperate." Chen Jiancheng is full of confidence and expectations.

Talking about the experience of participating in the exhibition: Half a day after the opening, one exhibit has attracted more than 60 visitors

In front of a 65-inch 3D naked-eye display, people stood in groups of three or two, staring at the screen - only to see two cute cartoon astronauts "coming out of the screen", swinging their bodies, blinking their eyes, and a meteorite also slowly swam from far to near in front of them. Less than half a day after the opening of the Taiwan Expo, this display has attracted more than 60 visitors.

Behind this novel visual experience is the comprehensive use of multiple technologies such as Inventec's eye tracking and 3D real-time algorithms. In Taiwan, this technology has been applied to advertising media, cultural relics exhibitions, virtual simulation teaching and other fields. In mainland China, in the mainland market, the application and exploration of such technologies is still in its infancy and needs to be explored urgently.

This is not the first time that the 3D naked-eye display screen has appeared at the Taiwan Expo. Lin Allen a senior manager of the Metaverse Technology Department of Inventec Corporation, said that compared with last year's exhibits, this year's 3D naked-eye displays have higher resolution, deeper immersion, and more obvious depth of field effects, bringing a more realistic and comfortable exhibition experience to the audience.

The 3D naked-eye displays attracted a lot of fans at the Taiwan Expo, including the Jiangmen Pavilion opposite the Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Pavilion. "Within less than half a day of the exhibition, we have reached a cooperation with a Taiwanese company in the Jiangmen Pavilion and negotiated an order."

Lin Allen said that before coming to the exhibition this time, he had contacted 8 schools in mainland China in advance, and he will meet with these potential partners at the Taiwan Expo in the next few days, in order to introduce 3D naked-eye displays and more Metaverse products into the education and market of the mainland.

Metaverse Photo Frame

Next to the 3D naked-eye displays, Metaverse Photo Frame and other products that are also full of futuristic sense also attracted many eyes. Lin Allen said that as the market continues to expand and mature, these innovative products will have a broader application space, and the Taiwan Expo is giving them a shot in the arm to expand into the mainland market.
